Orlando Magic

October 19, 2019

Finally, NBA preseason is over and the regular season is just a week away! Overall in preseason the Magic did kinda ehh… we went 3-3 facing the Spurs, Pistons, Hawks, Celtics, 76ers and Heat.

We started out hot, maintaining the energy we brought during the playoff push. Our offense was hot, each night someone stepped up from Bamba to Ross to Vooch. We beat early opponents by 24 points each. The team had synergy, each squad played as one, we moved the ball, we found open shots, we drove the lane and got second chance opportunities thanks to rebounding by the bigs. Our defense looked extremely aggressive, even more so than last season in preseason, it was nice while it lasted…

Jonathan Issac was all over the court, picking pockets and as dad says Andre Drummonding fools left and right. One game he had 4 steals and a block, other nights a steal or two and a block. He looks much more developed defensively than last season.

After going 3-0, having the best record in all the league in preseason, the energy gave out… We lost the next three games to Boston, Philadelphia and Miami in stunning fashion. 100 - 75 (vs. Boston), 126 - 94 (vs. Philadelphia) and 107 - 98 (vs. Miami), suddenly we were losing just like we had been winning, by a lot.

In the end, you can’t freak out about it. We went .500, we played good, we played like bad. It’s preseason, nothing matters until Oct. 23 vs. Cleveland @Home. I’ve said before on the show I’d rather go 0-6 in preseason, keep all the guys healthy and rested for opening night, than push 100%, win every game and come out with a busted line up poised to lay an egg on Wednesday.

I’d love to hear your predictions for the Magic before Wednesday’s Sports Report either calling the studio line, Wednesday, (407) 646-2915 or by email, will@freewill.rocks

See y’all Wednesday for some rockin’ and as always Go Magic!
